Compassion Closet is able to serve our local foste

Compassion Closet is able to serve our local foster care/adoption community thanks to donors like you! There are a few items that we do not accept.

What items do the Closets NOT accept or keep when donated? And why?
It is our desire to provide the absolute best for the children we serve! We believe that the items we provide do more than just meet a tangible need, but send a message of Christ's love and the value each child holds. This is the main reason we request and try to only keep items in new or gently used condition. Additionally, health and hygiene are also things we consider when processing donations to keep at our Closets.
Some items that we consistently DO NOT keep....
- Used underwear
- Used socks
- Used stuffed animals
- Broken, damaged, dirty items or anything in need of repair
- Outdated toys, gear or clothing
- Clothing/shoes with wholes, stains or signs of excessive wear.
- Any items missing parts
- Home goods (rugs, curtains, etc. aside from that appropriate for decorating a room for a child 0-18)
- Anything that smells of smoke or mildew or has visible pet hair
- Used mattresses (aside from wipe-able crib sized)

Wrapping around our local foster homes with consis

Wrapping around our local foster homes with consistent support is truly a team effort. While there are many unknowns in life, some things will stay the same. Children in vulnerable places will still need our help. Families will step up to help. And we want to be there beside them. Would you join us in 2023 by becoming a monthly donor?

Children come into state custody at all times. By becoming a monthly donor, you can serve with us throughout the year. What can a monthly donation do?

It enables Compassion Closet to purchase items we may not have, purchase beds for sibling groups and kinship placements, as well as help cover our monthly expenses.

Here's a look:
✔️ 10 donors at $20 per month can provide a twin bed and mattress
✔️ 25 donors at $20 per month can provide a set of bunk beds and mattresses
✔️ 50 donors at $20 per month can cover one location’s monthly rent payment!

As 2024 comes to a close, we at Compassion Closet

As 2024 comes to a close, we at Compassion Closet want to take a moment to remember all of those who make what we do possible. Volunteers, donors, churches, businesses, partner organizations, social workers, and the families and children we serve. Compassion Closet exists and continues to be able to serve because of the generosity of so many in our community. In 2024, over 3,000 requests have been fulfilled for clothing, baby gear, school supplies, and more. Over 175 beds have been provided for children in East Tennessee. Birthday and Christmas gifts have been supplied to families. Our five locations remain open to families.

As you consider giving today and through the end of this year, would you consider partnering with us so that we can continue to serve the foster care community of East Tennessee in 2025, and for many years to come? Financial donations go towards helping us purchase beds/mattresses when requested, other items we may not have available, and to help cover our monthly expenses. We’d love to have you join us!

Shopping after Christmas clearance is a great way to help our ministry. These beauty and hygiene items are 50% at Walmart. We are always in need of these items. Especially new items geared for teens. You get more bang for your buck.
